On 20 June, Pope Benedict XVI accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Liepaja, Latvia, presented by Bishop Vilhelms Lapelis O.P.

On 13 April 2012 the Latvian Chapter of Orders decided to award the Three Star Order to His Excellency, Jānis Bulis, the bishop of the Diocese of Rēzekne-Aglona who has rendered outstanding services for the benefit of the state of Latvia.

Pope Benedict XVI has expressed his condolences on the tragic fire in Alsunga Social Care Centre "Regi", which occured on February 23 and took lives of 25 people.

On August 12, a new holy-card/ mini-booklet was issued with the image of Bishop Boleslavs Sloskans, his life description, a letter to his parents written in 1928, and a prayer for his beatification in four languages – Russian, English, Polish and Latvian.

On May 29, after serving as a Rector of Riga Seminary (Latvia) for 12 years, Bishop Antons Justs commended his Office to the new Rector – Juris Jalinskis (on the left), Doctor of Canon Law, handing him the sculpture of Good Shepherd as the symbol of the Office.

On the third day of Easter, April 18, in Aglona Basilica, Holy Mass was celebrated to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Bishop Sloskans’ death. 

On March 20 and 21, Master General of Dominican Order Carlos A. Azpiroz Costa held an official visitation in Liepaja, St. Dominic monastery.

The Dominican Brother’s monastery is situated at Liepaja, 17 Jelgavas Street. The St. Dominic’s parish Church will be next door.
